Welcome to Bablake School Library.

Located in the heart of the school’s main building, we aim to support the wider curriculum by providing a range of useful services for the entire range of pupils and staff. We do so by providing a broad range of both fiction and non-fiction stock that is constantly updated. This includes everything from Stephanie Meyer to Charles Dickens and the most recent biographies to key text and reference books. We also carry a wide range of magazines and periodicals and a number of daily newspapers. The library hosts a suite of fourteen PCs, which can be expanded to allow for whole classes to book the space for lessons.

The library produces a reading list for each of the Shell, 2nd and 3 rd Year groups, which highlights books that are relevant to the topics they will cover in each academic subject during that period. We participate in the Booked-Up scheme, which provides each new secondary school pupil with a free reading book during the autumn of their first year. We have annual author visits, when nationally renowned writers visit school to give presentations on their work to groups of pupils.

The library is open and staffed from 8.15am every day and closes at 5pm. The library staff consists of Head Librarian Mrs J Needham and Assistant Librarian Mrs L Ryan who is on duty 1 to 5pm on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. They are ably assisted every lunchtime by a team of pupil librarians, who usually come from the fourth, fifth and sixth forms.
